I found out last night that one of my favourite zine creators passed away a few days ago. The zine is called Negative Guest List, a print publication in the age of the blog. What was important about it being being printed? Well you could compare it to other magazines on the shelf, and realize that it was funnier, more engaged, had more attitude and was just more interesting than many of the ‘official’ mags doing the rounds. Proof once again that street press is (or at least should be) ahead of the pack, without care about the music charts or industry trends. Writing not just about what came before, but what matters, now.

I never knew Brandon but I did consider corresponding with him at least, feeling (as did many others I’m sure) that we’d be friends if we lived in the same town.
